The Installation

This week I’m headed back to Accent Decor to design floral for some of their new products being introduced in January. I thought I’d share a few things from our last photoshoot in Birmingham at The Theodore!

I always love when I get asked to spend a little time with the Accent Decor team and be one of the first designers to try out their new products!

This new ‘Event Collection’ was no exception! I am so excited that they have launched a line of strong mechanic grids, rings, etc to make the floral designer’s job so much easier! I remember when this collection was in the development phase and I couldn’t have been more excited to see it come to fruition!

I wanted to share the fun experience with you, so here is a little behind the scenes documentation of the materials and steps that went into creating this dramatic, organic installation!

The ‘Ovation Stand‘ is the perfect support grid system. With four corner rigging points it keeps the installation from spinning and weight evenly distributed. It also has reinforced metal rods that support the grid so it won’t swag in the center!

I started by using plumosa greenery garlands cut in various lengths and suspended down vertically across the grid. I chose garlands because they were very quick to measure and install!

Next, I added in weeping willow foliage across the top and front to add some elevation and movement to the design. Next, I added in the palm to cover the view of the grid itself.

Last, I added in yarrow suspended upside down to give a hint of color and different texture to the design. There are so many floral choices that could be used here to finish off this installation!

The AD team began to work their magic with setting the tabletop, showcasing other beautiful products and finishing off with PropHouse Birmingham chairs to add that final modern accent to the room.

It is always a pleasure working with Accent Decor and I’m looking forward to our new collaborations this week!
